Student Spotlight: Pedro Pereira, Electrical with Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) Program at Pembroke Pines

Pedro PereiraPembroke Pines Student Pedro Pereira is in our Electrical with PLC program.  He started back in Nov 2021 and has maintained straight A’s (4.0) throughout his program. Here are some detail’s of his journey below!

What has been your secret to success in your education so far?

My secret to success is to read everything I’m given and to also look for outside sources.

What motivated you to start your Electrical with PLC program?

What motivated me was the fact that I wanted a career that is useful regardless of the situation going on with the economy.

What is your goal for your career?

My goal is to eventually become a master electrician and start my own business and to pass on what I’ve learned to other people.

What is the biggest obstacle you have overcome during your time in school?

The biggest obstacle I’ve overcome was getting laid off from my job when I was still in school, I was a truck driver before and I didn’t want to have to do that again and my mentor helped to keep me in school and focused. Eventually I got another job in my trade and I’m very happy about it.

What is one piece of advice you would share with new student just getting started?

One piece of advice I would share is to never take I’m not sure or I don’t know for an answer. Do your own research or find someone that does know to help you out.

What is your favorite thing you have learned so far?

My favorite thing I’ve learned so far has to be between load calculations, and solar power applications.

Is there anything else you would like to share on your journey?

I can say that with certainty that if I found something that keeps me focused enough to keep getting good grades and engaged in class I’ve found what I should have been doing this whole time.
