NUC FTC 2025 Annual Winter Festival

NUC University Florida Technical College’s Annual Winter Festival United Thousands Across Eight Campuses Statewide

NUC University Florida Technical College (NUC FTC) successfully hosted its Annual Winter Festival, welcoming thousands of students, families, faculty, staff, and community members across eight campuses statewide for a festive day centered on connection, learning, and holiday spirit.

Now in its eighth year, the Winter Festival has become one of NUC FTC’s most recognizable and anticipated community traditions. Designed to support families and spread hope during the holiday season, the free event reflected the institution’s commitment to service, access, and hands-on learning—bringing communities together in a warm, inclusive environment.

“Our Winter Festival has always been about more than a holiday gathering. It was about helping families feel supported, creating moments of hope, and opening our campuses as places of belonging. I am incredibly proud of our students, faculty, and staff who gave their time and heart to serve communities across Florida,” said Dr. James Michael Burkett, President of NUC University Florida Technical College.

Throughout the day, attendees enjoyed free photos with Santa Claus, live music, raffles, giveaways, and interactive activities for all ages. Families also had opportunities to learn more about NUC FTC’s academic offerings, admissions pathways, and student support services, reinforcing the institution’s role as both an educational and community resource.

Student volunteers played a central role in bringing the festival to life. At the Kissimmee Campus, Veterinary Technology students provided free pet grooming and nail-trimming services in the new grooming lab, while Culinary Arts students baked cookies with children, served ice cream, and led hands-on holiday activities—creating memorable experiences rooted in experiential learning.

Each campus offered distinct highlights through strong community partnerships, which were essential to the festival’s success. The Orlando Campus welcomed the Orlando Magic Hype Team, the Pembroke Pines Campus featured cheerleaders from the NFL Miami Dolphins, and the Tampa Campus hosted an ambassador from the Tampa Bay Rays, bringing excitement and regional pride to families across Florida.

In addition to giving back through toys and activities, NUC FTC campuses also collected donations for Toys for Tots, supporting the U.S. Marine Corps’ annual holiday initiative and extending the festival’s impact beyond the day’s celebration.

“This event truly reflected the spirit of our community,” stated Jackie Espinosa, Mayor of the City of Kissimmee. “Seeing families, children, and even pets come together in such a positive and welcoming environment speaks volumes about NUC FTC’s commitment to education, service, and compassion. This is exactly the kind of partnership that strengthens our city.”

Over the years, NUC FTC’s Winter Festival has welcomed tens of thousands of attendees statewide, supported by thousands of volunteer hours from faculty, staff, and students. What began as a seasonal gathering has evolved into a signature community event, exemplifying how NUC University Florida Technical College continues to lead with compassion, education, and service—well beyond the classroom.
