ORLANDO, FL—NUC University Florida Technical College (FTC) proudly announces the appointment of Dr. James Michael Burkett to the Central and Northeast Florida Regional Board of Prospera, the state’s leading nonprofit, economic development organization specialized in providing bilingual assistance to Hispanic entrepreneurs.
Dr. Burkett’s appointment to the Prospera Regional Board comes as recognition of his visionary leadership and many civic contributions, including support of Hispanic-owned businesses in Central Florida. With over two decades of experience in academia and economic development, Dr. Burkett brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the Board. Throughout his career, Dr. Burkett has been the recipient of numerous awards, highlighting his dedication to supporting the progress of Hispanics in the Central Florida region. Notable accolades include the prestigious 2022 Don Quijote Hispanic Champion Award, presented by the Hispanic Chamber of Metro Orlando and Prospera. Dr. Burkett has also been recognized with the 2019 Diversity in Business Award by the Orlando Business Journal, the 2021 Ignitor of the Year Award by the Hispanic Chamber, and the 2022 Diversity Game Changers Award by the NBA Orlando Magic.
