2019 was a great year for Florida Technical College. Our goal was to build on the success we had in 2018 and strive for even bigger in 2020. The results turned out to be amazing. Take a look at what FTC was able to accomplish in 2019:
- The 2019 graduation class was the largest graduation since FTC’s inception
- More than 1,600 of our student graduates entered the workforce
- The launch of two new programs fully taught in Spanish: Cosmetology and Barbering
- The expansion of our Electrical program to Lakeland and Orlando
- Lakeland Mayor Bill Mutz declared November 6th to be Florida Technical College Electrical Program Day
- Became a trustee of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Metro Orlando
- Recognized by the Orlando Business Journal as a recipient of the 2019 Diversity in Business Awards
- Opened our doors to the Let VETS Choose Tour by Veterans for Career Education to help educate our military students on their GI Bill® education benefits
- Became the first college in our region to participate in the Florida Department of Transportation’s reThink Your Commute
- Miss Universe Puerto Rico Madison Anderson Berrios visited our Kissimmee campus to meet and greet with our students
- FTC Cares continued its support of the community by our Cosmetology students providing makeovers for cancer patients and survivors and our Esthetics students doing hair and makeup for teen moms celebrating their senior prom
- Our Trade Construction Program students joined our staff to clean the streets as part of an initiative launched through Florida’s Adopt-A-Road Program
- Our Back to School event helped over 1,000 kids receive new backpacks with school supplies
