We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, ensure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.
The preamble to the Constitution of the United States virtually provides for the creation of jobs for “The Good Guys,” meaning those who choose to serve and protect the rest of the population. That protection may be provided in many different ways, but they all work to secure the blessings of liberty and ensure domestic tranquility that is exceptional by world standards.
The Need for Good Guys
No matter where you look in this country, there are jobs available in the general realm of protective services. Protective services includes police officers, security guards, bailiffs, game wardens, firefighters, 911 dispatchers, correctional officers, detention and parole officers, investigators and surveillance and cybersecurity specialists.
The good news is that you don’t have to be a superhero to be a Good Guy – and there are technical schools in Florida that specialize in preparing and equipping Good Guys to excel in their chosen field of service.
The really good news is that Florida has the fourth highest number of people employed in protective service occupations, trailing only California, Texas, and New York. And the need is continually growing.

Here is an amazing fact: People don’t need a four-year degree to become fully qualified for these well-paid and rewarding jobs. Technical schools offer both classroom and field training – a virtual apprenticeship program that prepares students with a blend of education and experience that equips them to be job-ready at graduation. Having already worked alongside professional Good Guys and learning about their world first-hand, technical school grads are often able to move from campus to workplace almost seamlessly.
Opportunities for Good Guys Are Growing
Unlike many jobs that are destined to disappear, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the need for Good Guys is growing in nearly every segment.
- The need for correctional officers is projected to grow by 5% through 2022.
- The need for police officers is projected to grow at the same rate, but an increase in concerns over public safety may stimulate a greater growth rate.
- The need for firefighters is projected to grow by 7% over the same period.
- The need for private detectives and investigators should grow by 11%.
- The need for qualified security officers is expected to grow by 12%.

Don’t wait for the Bat Signal to appear in the sky. That’s not going to happen. We need real men and women trained and qualified to be the Good Guys. They are the ones who are winning the fight for truth, justice and the American way.
