Congratulations to Dr. James Michael Burkett, President of Florida Technical College on being honored with the 2022 Don Quijote Hispanic Community Champion Award!
The award, bestowed by the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Metro Orlando (HCCMO) and Prospera, recognizes a non-Hispanic individual who has led by example in supporting the progress of Hispanics in the Central Florida region.
This year Dr. James Michael Burkett was named the winner for his commitment to establishing a solid educational institution built on diversity and inclusion, strong community partnerships, transparent leadership, collaborative decision- making and on the promise of equal educational opportunity for all students, especially to those from underserved populations, such as the Latino community.
Along with Dr. Burkett’s recognition, HCCMO and Prospera revealed the rest of the award finalists at a press conference at the Orlando Museum of Art. Every year, the Don Quijote Awards recognize successful businesses and individuals who have demonstrated the qualities exemplified by the classic literary character of Don Quijote: visionary and courageous dreamers who have taken risks to achieve their goals and improve Central Florida.
The 25th Annual Don Quijote Awards Celebration will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2022, at Epcot’s World Showplace.
