NUC University Florida Technical College (FTC) has been honored with the prestigious Community Impact Award by Career Education Review (CER), a publication of Career Education Colleges and Universities (CECU), the national organization serving postsecondary career education. This award is part of CER’s 2024 Annual Career Education Review Awards, which celebrate excellence in career education across the nation.
The Community Impact Award recognizes organizations that demonstrate a commitment to community service and philanthropy, creating positive change and strengthening the communities they serve.
NUC University Florida Technical College was celebrated for its outstanding work through its corporate social responsibility program, FTC Cares.
“We take great pride in serving our community and the lasting, positive impact NUC University Florida Technical College (NUC FTC) has made throughout Florida with our corporate social responsibility initiative, FTC Cares,” said Dr. James Michael Burkett, President of NUC University Florida Technical College. “Over the past six years, NUC FTC has successfully completed more than 200 community-based projects, a milestone made possible through strong collaborations with local nonprofits and major sports organizations, including the Orlando Magic, Miami Dolphins, and Tampa Bay Rays.
A key component of FTC’s community service is its annual back-to-school event, a signature initiative that has distributed more than 40,000 backpacks filled with school supplies to students statewide over the past decade.
