December 2, 2024 Orlando, FL — Those interested in serving health in a pharmacy setting can now earn their Pharmacy Technician diploma at NUC University-Florida Technical College. This 24-credit program prepares students to serve as licensed pharmacy technicians in a number of settings.
The program focuses on developing skills in the preparation and dispensing of medications, as well as the administration of pharmacy operations. Graduates can serve under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist in hospitals, community pharmacies, wholesale drugstores, and health insurance companies.
The programs covers essential topics within pharmacy theory and practice, including medical and pharmaceutical terminology, principles of pharmacology and pharmaceutics, drug identification, pharmacy laboratory procedures, prescription interpretation, patient communication and education, safety procedures, record-keeping, measurement and testing techniques, pharmacy business operations, prescription preparation, logistics and dispensing operations, and applicable standards and regulations, under the supervision of an authorized licensed pharmacist. The program includes a Capstone course to help students apply classroom theory to real-world pharmacy applications.
