FLORIDA TECHNICAL COLLEGE AND OSCEOLA SHERIFF UNITE TO FEED HOMELESS ON THANKSGIVING

FLORIDA TECHNICAL COLLEGE AND OSCEOLA SHERIFF UNITE TO FEED HOMELESS ON THANKSGIVING KISSIMMEE, FL. – Florida Technical College (FTC) President, Dr. James Michael Burkett, collaborated with Sheriff Marcos Lopez and the Osceola Sheriff’s Office in a heartfelt initiative to provide Thanksgiving meals to the homeless community. The event effort took place at The Rock Church in Kissimmee, where President Dr. Burkett and numerous dedicated officers served hot meals to hundreds of individuals in need.

“This collaboration exemplifies our commitment to community well-being,” said Dr. Burkett, President of FTC. “It is a privilege to stand alongside Sheriff Marcos R. Lopez and the Osceola Sheriff’s Office in bringing comfort to those members of our community who need it most.”

The initiative, led by Sheriff Marcos R. Lopez, aimed to extend support to Osceola County families during the Thanksgiving holiday. The Florida Technical College Culinary team, along with students, played a central role in preparing a special Thanksgiving dinner for 250 people, featuring classic dishes such as turkey, mashed potatoes, and other traditional delights.

In addition to this collaboration, FTC has been actively engaged in spreading holiday cheer throughout the community. This week the FTC Culinary Arts team also cooked six delicious turkeys for donation to the Kissimmee Police Department, who will further distribute them to the Boys & Girls Club.

These initiatives reflect FTC’s ongoing efforts to make a positive impact beyond the realm of education. By extending a helping hand during the holidays, FTC remains committed to supporting the community and fostering a spirit of compassion and gratitude during the Thanksgiving holiday, embodying the spirit of FTC Cares.
