NUC University Florida Technical College (FTC) is proud to announce London House, an exclusive private members club in Orlando, as the recipient of the prestigious Hospitality Education Partner of the Year Award for 2023. The award celebrates community partners whose involvement significantly strengthens FTC’s hospitality program, providing invaluable support and opportunities for students to thrive in their careers.
“As an operation our cornerstone of success is focusing on the best of the best in our offerings to our members.,” Chef Javier Nolla, Executive Director at London House. “That starts with selecting the best applicants in the market for our culinary operations. This is why we always turn to our partners at NUC University Florida Technical College. We can count on their students to be highly prepared, and trained to the level of excellence we require.”
The recognition was presented by Dr. James Michael Burkett, President of Florida Technical College, and MaryAnn Sewell, Vice President of Strategic Business Development & Career Services at FTC.
“London House has been an extraordinary partner, consistently demonstrating their commitment to fostering the next generation of hospitality professionals,” said Dr. James Michael Burkett, President of Florida Technical College. “We look forward to continuing this impactful partnership and achieving even greater success together.”
MaryAnn Sewell, Vice President of Strategic Business Development & Career Services at FTC, highlighted the importance of such partnerships: “This marks the third year that FTC has presented the Hospitality Education Partner of the Year award, underscoring the importance of strong alliances between educational institutions and industry leaders in advancing hospitality education and workforce development. London House’s dedication has facilitated numerous successful career placements and nurtured continuous professional development for FTC graduates.”
Chef Grant Kells, London House Corporate Chef, emphasized the importance of comprehensive training in sustaining the culinary industry, “I was trained and have worked in some of the best Michelin star restaurants and hotels around the world. I believe that training is the only way to sustain our amazing industry. A lot of restaurants around the world no longer put value into training and developing young cooks. Here at London House, we are proud to partner with NUC University Florida Technical College for internships and work placements. I currently have seven (7) cooks that came to work with me through the university and are now full-time employees after they finished their studies. I preach to my employees ‘good cooking is the accumulation of small details done to perfection. This is my ethos, and the well-trained students that come to me from FTC with us because of the excellent training they receive while there.”
The Florida Technical College (FTC) Distinguished Partnership Awards celebrate leaders and organizations that enhance the transition from college coursework to career success, demonstrating a robust commitment to offering work-integrated learning opportunities and hiring FTC students.
